Take the jungle track with lunch. It is the most-reviewed ATV ride out of Ubud by a wide margin — 6,750 reviews behind a 4.8 — and the reason is boring competence rather than a headline feature. A guide rides with the group, the pace is set for whoever is slowest, and the track mixes jungle, rice fields, a river crossing and tunnels over 1.5 hours. Teniwa from Australia, who rode on 21 August 2026, wrote: "From the pickup to drop offs we enjoyed it all! The ATV Quad bike was so much fun I had a blast zooming around the tracks and then lunch was delicious!"
It is also the only listing on this page where the instructors are listed in French and Indonesian as well as English, which matters more than it sounds when someone is shouting brake instructions at you on a wet descent.
Two listings sell a cave and they are not the same cave. The Gorilla Face ride is built around a rock formation cut into the shape of a giant gorilla's head, with a tunnel that runs out of the gorilla's mouth — it is the photograph everyone comes back with, and it is a 30-second feature of a 90-minute ride.
The 750-metre tunnel listing is the one for people who actually want to be underground. Fiona from the UK rode it on 26 August 2026 and called it "way better than we'd expected but pretty hard going!! Really steep hills and narrow tunnels". It costs $39 against $22, and it is stricter about who can ride.
This is the question that decides the booking for most people, and it is buried in the options rather than the headline. The Barong Caves ride is the only one here whose transfer option collects from Canggu, Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur and Nusa Dua as well as Ubud. The 750-metre tunnel covers the Ubud area only. The rest sit somewhere in between and confirm your area at checkout.
From Seminyak or Nusa Dua the drive is the activity: budget two hours each way in Bali traffic against 90 minutes of riding. If that maths does not appeal, the ATV is a reason to move up to Ubud for a night rather than a day trip.
The ATV, jungle swing and rice terrace day uses the same Gorilla Face track and the same 1.5 hours on the quad, then keeps going: the Ubud swing ticket, lunch, and Tegalalang rice terrace, all in a private Honda Avanza for up to five people. At $22 it is the same headline price as the ride alone, which is why 72 reviewers rate it 4.6 rather than higher — the ATV portion is unchanged, so the value sits in the transport and the tickets.
Gorilla Adventures also sells an ATV plus Ayung river rafting package direct, if the swing does not appeal and white water does.
The Bali Panorama listing is $28 with no promotional rate attached, which makes it the one price on this page that does not depend on a discount still running. It is a newer listing with no aggregate rating displayed yet, though the reviews it does carry point at the Kuber track — Petru from Romania wrote "I would give Kuber ATV Bali a 5 out of 5" after riding on 20 August 2026. Its minimum age is 13 rather than 12, and it is the only listing here that rules out riders with a low level of fitness.
Nothing on this page happens in Ubud town. The quad bases sit north of it, in the Payangan and Tegallalang areas of Gianyar Regency.
The bases cluster along the road that runs from Ubud up towards Kintamani — Payangan for most of them, Tegallalang for the operators that pair the ride with the rice terrace. Operator sites put the drive at 20 minutes from Ubud town at best and 30 minutes in normal traffic; on a Saturday afternoon with the Tegalalang coaches moving, assume the longer figure.
If you book a meet-at-venue option you are getting yourself there, and the exact address only arrives by email after booking. That is workable on a scooter — the bases have free parking for scooters and cars — but a Grab from central Ubud one way is the more common answer.
Every listing here sells both. Meet-at-venue is the cheaper option and the one that gives you your morning back; the pickup option costs more but removes the one part of the day that can go wrong.
The trap sits in the timeslot. On the Gorilla Adventures listings, the time you choose at checkout is your hotel pickup time, not the ride time — pick 07:00 and you are standing in the lobby at 07:00. The driver contacts you the day before to reconfirm, normally on WhatsApp, so leave a number that works in Indonesia. On the swing-and-rice-terrace day some pickups start as early as 07:00 because the rest of the itinerary has to fit around the ATV slot.

Local operators also market a long dark tunnel route and a dragon-cave track on 350 cc machines direct from their own sites; those are the same valley, sold at walk-in prices.
This is the one place where booking through a platform is straightforwardly cheaper than turning up, and the gap is not small.

Ubud operators publish their own walk-in rates, and they are considerably higher. One Ubud base lists Rp 1,000,000 for a single quad and Rp 1,300,000 tandem. Alas Harum's Alasan Adventure, on an 8 km track at Jl. Raya Bresela No.8 in Bresela, publishes a full menu: Rp 1,200,000 for a 250 cc single, Rp 1,600,000 tandem, Rp 1,700,000 for a 450 cc single, Rp 2,100,000 for an 850 cc single and Rp 2,500,000 tandem, with 800 cc UTVs at Rp 2,600,000 single and Rp 3,000,000 tandem on a separate 7 km course. Kuber's published singles run from Rp 650,000 to Rp 1,400,000 depending on package.
At roughly 17,700 rupiah to the dollar in August 2026, that band is about $37 to $170 per person. Against $22 to $40 on the listings compared here, the platform price is not a convenience premium — it is the discount.
Photos and video are not included on any of them. They are sold at the base by a third-party vendor and paid in cash on the day; the tunnel listing states in writing that it is not responsible for photo results or delayed file delivery. Tips for the guide and driver are excluded everywhere too, and several reviewers describe handing over a GoPro and a tip rather than buying the package. Bring rupiah: the bases are not card-friendly.

Tandem means one quad for two people. It is the cheaper way to ride and the most common source of an unexpected charge at the base.
One machine, two seats, one driver. The passenger holds on and takes the photographs. On a 90-minute ride that is a real decision rather than a formality — if both of you want to drive, two singles is the honest answer, and Alas Harum's own walk-in menu prices a 250 cc tandem at Rp 1,600,000 against Rp 1,200,000 for a single, so the saving over two machines is roughly a third.
Some listings also sell 'a voucher for 2 people' on one tandem quad, which reads like two tickets and is not. Read the option name before you pay.
Book tandem with an odd number of riders and somebody ends up alone on a machine. The Gorilla Face listing states it plainly: one person will be required to ride solo, with an additional charge payable on-site. Three friends booking two tandem slots is the classic version of this.
The 750-metre tunnel base handles the same problem from the other end: if the two of you together weigh more than about 135 to 140 kg, staff will advise two singles, at two singles' prices. Deciding that at the base, in front of a queue, costs more than deciding it at checkout.

One line deserves reading twice: on the tunnel listing, children aged 3 to 4 may ride as tandem passengers under their parents' responsibility and are explicitly not covered by the insurance. That is the operator's own wording, and it is the sort of sentence that only matters once.
The 750-metre tunnel base caps combined weight on one quad at approximately 135 to 140 kg and asks heavier pairs to take two singles for comfort and performance. The Barong Caves listing does not accept riders over 150 kg at all. Alas Harum's walk-in menu shows how machine size changes the limit: 120 kg on the smallest 250 cc quads, 150 kg on the 450 cc, 250 kg on the 850 cc.
Every listing here excludes pregnant travellers and people with back problems. The tunnel and Barong Caves listings also exclude babies under 1 and travellers aged 70 and over. The Bali Panorama listing adds wheelchair users and riders with a low level of fitness; the swing-and-rice-terrace day adds heart conditions.
None of them is wheelchair accessible. The tracks involve sustained vibration, steep inclines and river crossings — that is the point of them, and it is why the exclusion lists are longer than on most Bali activities.

A full change of clothes, including underwear — this is the item people skip and regret. Cash in rupiah for photos, drinks and tips. Sunscreen. A waterproof bag or pouch if you want your phone with you rather than in the locker. Closed shoes you do not mind ruining, though boots are issued at the base.
Skip the GoPro chest mount unless you have used one before; the guides film with your phone or camera at the stops anyway, and several reviewers mention exactly that.
Anything you would mind losing. Alcohol and drugs are banned before riding on every listing here, and staff do look. Large luggage can be stored at the lobby on the Barong Caves base if you are riding on a transfer day between hotels.
What you will be wearing home is mud, and the shower at the base is genuinely hot on most of them — but a wet swimsuit under dry clothes is the standard exit, so bring the bag for the wet pile.

Very nice route! The guides are very friendly. You can ride the mud routes multiple times. Mostly for experienced quad riders, but certainly a fast pace, and if you're good at it, they give you more room to go fast.
